New cycle overview

This cycle, you'll notice a change in how our weekly programming is organized.

In previous cycles, each day of the week typically had a consistent focus. While that made the schedule familiar, it also meant certain movements and training styles often landed on the same day every week.

For this cycle, we're changing that.

Instead of assigning a fixed focus to each weekday, the daily training focus will rotate throughout the cycle. One week Monday may emphasize strength, the next it may be gymnastics or conditioning. This gives us more flexibility to create balanced training weeks, better manage fatigue, and expose you to a wider variety of movements and workouts.

This doesn't mean the programming is random. Each week is still intentionally balanced across weightlifting, gymnastics, and monostructural conditioning, with progressive strength work and skill development woven throughout the cycle.

feast New year’s resolutions

yes, we may be getting ahead of ourselves. but we’re excited for another year of fitness together—so much so that we’ve come up with a short list of resolutions that we can all put into practice. while they may not be super exciting, they definitely help us continue to operate smoothly and keep the vibes high. here’s what you can do to help us—now and in the new year:

  1. Set your Zelle payment to recur. this really helps us stay organized and on top of billing.

  2. If you have 3 missed Zelles we’ll ask you to switch to credit card payments. if #1 isn’t possible, let’s make billing easy for you and us. plus, you’ll score some credit card points. moving forward, if you receive a billing reminder from us 3 times, we’ll reach out to help you set up payment by credit card. (And yes, that does unfortunately mean a slightly increased rate to account for processing fees.)

  3. Register and check in to class. this one’s easy and Helps us plan classes accordingly. check yourself in right before class so you don’t forget.

  4. Put away your rowers by folding screens, releasing handles, and closing the damper. this extends the life of our rowers. we like them a lot and want them to be with us for many years to come.

  5. Wait until everyone is done with their workout to clean up. be the best cheer squad in chicago. root for your teammates and wait to clean up your equipment until everyone is done.

  6. Introduce yourself to new members. starting something new or being in a new space can sometimes feel intimidating. make sure everyone feels welcome by saying hello!

  7. Be on time. being on time is a sign of respect for your fellow teammates and coaches. plus, we want to make sure you’re prepped and properly warmed up for your training day.

5 Nutrition tips for the holidays

We LOVE the upcoming holiday season and a reason to gather. and we also know these next few months can be enjoyed without derailing your nutrition goals. check out these tips And strategies for navigating the holiday season:

#1 — After enjoying a few pieces, get rid of the candy or other high sugar foods that come into your house from trick-or-treating or gifts. Lots of us feel guilty about tossing food, but you’d rather the food disappear into the trash than into you!

#2 — If you do overdo it, don’t beat yourself up. A day or a weekend of overindulgence isn't going to make a difference over the long term. Just get back to nutritious food at your next meal.

#3 — Fill up on a healthy meal before you attend a gathering that won’t have nutritious food options so that you won’t be driven by hunger pangs AND sugar cravings.

#4 — Bring something to the party that's good for you and that you’d like to eat, such as shrimp cocktail, mini turkey meatballs, or chicken skewers.

#5 — Each time you drink an alcoholic beverage, follow it up with a glass of water. Alternating this way will help keep you in control, and help you feel good the next day.

If you’ve got specific questions or concerns, or want more strategy tips, ask any coach. We’ve got the experience, and we’re here to help!
